Practice 1A: Eddie Peake

Eddie Peake:

"I want to focus on the process of devising a dramatic performance work, and the constant and jolting shift between reality and drama implicit in trying to do that in the context of an art gallery."

Peake graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art and received his MFA from the Royal Academy School, London, currently residing in London Peake defines himself as an artist, rather than in relation to any particular medium.

Peake’s work focus on subjects such as voyeurism, eroticism, sexuality and gender and through his diverse artistic vocabulary he explores language transitions between verbal and nonverbal dialect within his work. He references to pop art, anarchic humor and spectacle.

He takes viewers on a journey of discomfort sculptural and sexual objects through choreographed actions, encouraging the audience to give in to voyeuristic desire. Tense dialogue

  • Pop cultural references.
  • Images that become animated,
  • Idea of performance that have an impact on viewer.
