This work sparks from my interest in textures.
using a gift pouch and burlap, both having very different but interesting textural qualities.
I enjoyed using plaster, filling a soft material with a hard substance created an interesting outcome. The visible creases formed add realism, a reminder of what the material is and its original purpose, which has now been altered
The burlap adds another texture, it's frayed edges give the piece a sense of aged aesthetic.
In this piece (Left) this was done with left overs I had, preserving the materials.
The materials overlap and merge into one well, what once was fragile has been turned hard through the plaster.
